Dr. Manjunath co-founded Mayachitra (with Dr. Chandrasekaran). He has over 15 years of experience in developing robust image informatics solutions, including image registration, content based search and retrieval, image and video databases, steganography, and image segmentation. He is also a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he directs research in the Vision Research Laboratory and the Center for Bio-Image Informatics. He has authored/co-authored over 150 peer reviewed papers in leading journals and conferences, and is a co-inventor on 15 US patents. He was involved with the MPEG-7 standardization and the lead editor of the book on MPEG-7 published by Wiley International.

Shiv Chandrasekaran

Shivkumar Chandrasekaran, Ph.D.

Dr. Chandrasekaran is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Mayachitra Inc. and a Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is responsible for overall software systems design and implementation. At Mayachitra his research has been primarily concentrated on developing a scalable multimedia database that can support content based search on terabytes of data, primarily for aerial and satellite imagery and bio-medical images.

Manjula Manjunath

Manjula Manjunath
Business Manager

Manjula is currently the Business Manager at Mayachitra. She has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCSB. She has worked as Administration Engineer at SGS, India.

Kenneth M. Sullivan

Kenneth M. Sullivan, Ph.D.

Dr. Sullivan completed his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Vision Research Laboratory, UCSB. Dr. Sullivan has a strong academic background, as well as practical experience in commercial enterprises. His background expertise is in video and image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, and data hiding.

Kaushal M. Solanki

Kaushal M. Solanki, Ph.D.

Dr. Solanki recently completed Ph.D. (2005) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCSB. His expertise and experience lies in image processing and computer vision technologies such as image registration, automated image analysis, and data hiding. He has published several international journals and conferences papers, and has developed techniques that are now considered to be among the best in the literature. He is the recipient of the IBM Student Paper Award of the 2004 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP). He also received dissertation fellowship from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UCSB, in 2005.

Marco Zuliani

Dr. Zuliani obtained his Laurea degree in computer engineering from the University of Padova, Italy and his M.S and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His main interests are in the fields of image analysis, with a special emphasis on image registration and mosaicking, feature detection and description, robust estimation, shape description, multi-view geometry and optimization. Part of his research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He also received a dissertation fellowship from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UCSB, in 2005.

Milind Mistry

Mr. Mistry holds Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering from SVNIT, India and is Masters candidate at San Diego State University majoring Computer Science. Before joining Mayachitra he has been working with Convera for 3 years developing document management system and enterprise search engine. He has strong background in software engineering and client-server systems.

Jiyun Byun

Dr. Byun received her Ph.D in Electrical and Computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2007). She worked on several problems concerning image analysis and pattern recognition of biomolecular/microscopy images in the Center for Bio-Image Informatics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research interests focus on image analysis, pattern recognition, and data mining in bio-molecular images.

Jae Hyeok Choi

Mr. Choi received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Washington and completed Masters in University of California, Santa Barbara. He has been working in Center for Bio-Informatics in University of California before joining Mayachitra, developing Bio image annotation tool and conducting research on Cell segmentation via Network Snakes method. He is currently working on developing Mayachitra imago.

Jayanth Nayak

Jayanth Nayak, Ph.D.

Dr. Nayak completed his Ph.D. dissertation titled "Problems in compression, transmission and storage of correlated sources", from the ECE department at University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2005. During his Ph.D., his research was on the information theoretic analysis of distributed source coding scenarios. He received a dissertation fellowship from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UCSB, in 2005. As a postdoctoral researcher at INRIA, France and at the University of California, Riverside, he has worked on several problems in video processing. In particular, he has designed algorithms for multi-target tracking by combining audio and video data in a sensor network. He has also designed algorithms for distributed compression of data from multiple cameras. His research has resulted in numerous publications in international journals and conferences. His research interests include pattern recognition, signal and video processing and information theory.

Sharadh Ramaswamy

Sharadh Ramaswamy, Ph.D.

Dr. Sharadh Ramaswamy obtained his PhD at UCSB in 2008, under Prof. Kenneth Rose in the ECE Department. His research investigated the trade-offs between efficient data storage and fast search/retrieval in databases leading to optimal system designs for fast multimedia database search and efficient sensor data storage/retrieval. His research has been published in several international conferences and journals. Currently, his research interests include computer vision, high-dimensional database design and distributed compression. During his PhD, he was awarded the President's Work-Study Fellowship and the ECE Departmental Fellowship.

Jelena Tesic

Jelena Tešić joined Mayachitra in early 2009.  Her main focus is on developing scalable multimedia indexing, search and retrieval systems for video repositories.  Prior to that, she spent 5 years at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY, Intelligent Information Analysis Group.   Jelena received the Dipl. Ing. degree from the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia, in 1998, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1999 and 2004, respectively.
